lastFM proceeds soon with database update (advantages: fix wrong artist names, delete scrobbles, unlove tracks, ...)

2018 August 14:

"We were hoping to deploy this last month,
however testing identified a number of issue that needed to be resolved before we can make this available to users,
so unfortunately we're running behind schedule by at least a month.

As the new database completely replaces the existing scrobble storage solution,
it's extremely important that we ensure that the data and scrobble counts are correct for all users --
that's essentially why it's taking so long to complete.
Thanks for your patience and understanding in the meantime.

original article (2018-06-21):

Soon lastFM will do a database update (to Apache Cassandra) which e.g.
  • allows users to fix wrong artist names
  • "This fixes numerous bugs people have been experiencing
(e.g. not being able to delete scrobbles, not being able to unlove tracks, certain artists / albums appearing twice in the charts, other corrections weirdness, etc).
    " (1)
  • overhaul of the developer API (e.g. the User.* methods) (2)
